SHOWOFF DANCE
SAFEGUARDING POLICY

Our priority is creating a safe, supportive environment where children and young people can learn, grow and perform with confidence.

1. INTRODUCTION

This policy applies to all individuals involved in or present at any Showoff Dance classes, sessions, workshops, performances or events.

Its purpose is to outline safeguarding responsibilities for protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse and to clearly state expectations for anyone connected to Showoff Dance.

This policy is available on our website and reviewed annually. Updates will be clearly flagged.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe environment for all classes and events
  • Identify and respond to individuals needing support or protection
  • Promote self-esteem and confidence
  • Encourage open communication in a trusted atmosphere
  • Ensure staff recruitment is carried out with integrity
  • Provide safeguarding training
  • Carry out DBS checks where required
  • Take all reasonable steps to protect children and vulnerable adults
  • Report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer
  • Refer serious incidents to statutory authorities

Staff & Volunteer Duties

  • Maintain professional behaviour
  • Protect children from hazards
  • Record accidents immediately
  • Report concerns confidentially
  • Follow emergency procedures
  • Ensure sessions start and finish on time
  • Promote fairness, trust and ethics
  • Maintain appropriate insurance

Photography

Photos of children may only be taken with parental consent and must not be reproduced without permission.

Accidents & First Aid

First aid should only be administered by trained personnel whenever possible. Parents will be contacted immediately for serious incidents.

All accidents must be recorded in the accident book.

Enhanced DBS

All relevant staff, volunteers and contractors must hold appropriate DBS clearance. Final decisions rest with the CEO.
